Buccaneer Band Experience

The Blinn College District Annual Buccaneer Band Experience is hosted every fall on the Blinn College-Brenham Campus and at Brenham ISD’s Cub Stadium. It will be an exciting, full-day event including optional all-region band preparation clinics covering both Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) and Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) repertoire. Participants will also have the opportunity to perform with the Blinn Buccaneer Band during the evening’s home football game, both in the stands and during halftime. There is no charge for participation, and each student will receive a commemorative T-shirt!
Below is a sample itinerary for the day's event (the exact itinerary will be posted and emailed to participants prior to each year's specific event).
Tentative Itinerary
- 9 a.m. - student check-in at Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center (600 Blinn Blvd., Brenham, TX) on the Blinn College-Brenham Campus for all participants wishing to receive a clinic. Please bring your instrument and a jug for water.
- 11 a.m. - Indoor rehearsal with the Buccaneer Band
- 12:30 p.m. - Outdoor rehearsal with the Buccaneer Band
- 2:15 p.m. - ATSSB school participants receive clinic on their all-region music from Blinn faculty or a guest artist on their instrument. TMEA school participants will get a break and can eat lunch on their own.
- 3:15 p.m. - All participants will have sectional time with Blinn Buccaneer Band Members
- 4 p.m. - TMEA school participants receive clinic on their all-region music from Blinn faculty or a guest artist on their instrument. ATSSB school participants will get a break and can eat lunch on their own.
- 6 p.m. - Arrive at Cub Stadium (1600 E. Tom Green, Brenham, TX). Please make transportation plans on your own: Blinn College will not provide transportation to this venue.
- 7 p.m. - Game Kick off and Stand Tunes!
- 8:15 p.m. - Approximate halftime performance. Participants are then free to depart, or stay and continue playing stand tunes
- 10 p.m. - Approximate game end.
Please Note
- Participants will be required to sign a liability waiver upon their arrival to campus in order to participate.
- Parents and family are invited to join us at Cub Stadium for the football game. We will provide a game ticket for directors and immediate family members of students participating in the day’s events.
Blinn College will provide light snacks and some water while participants are on campus, but please make plans for having food/water available on your own. Concessions are available at Cub Stadium during the football game.

Come spend the day making music with other talented high school students from the surrounding area! The day will include instruction from Blinn College’s outstanding music faculty and conclude with a public concert featuring you as well as the Blinn College Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band. No charge for participation! A tentative itinerary is listed below:
10 a.m.: Check in at the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center
11 a.m.: Welcome and rehearsal on stage
1 p.m.: Lunch Break (Blinn College Cafeteria available for $5 per person). Participants are welcome to observe the Blinn College Wind Symphony/Symphonic Band rehearsal
2:15 p.m.: Sectional time with Blinn College faculty to work on concert music
3:30 p.m.: Rehearsal on the O’Donnell Stage
5 p.m.: Rehearsal concludes, participants have a dinner break on their own
6:30 p.m.: Participants report back to O’Donnell PAC to be seated for the concert
7 p.m.: Concert begins
8:30 p.m.: Approximate concert conclusion
