Applied Technology, Workforce, and Economic Development

Earn nationally recognized certifications in high-demand careers at Blinn College! The Blinn College District's applied technology, workforce, and economic development programs have been designed in partnership with industry leaders to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to enter the workforce immediately upon completion. Some of these workforce education courses do not require a high school diploma and enrollment is fast, easy, and can be done remotely. Degrees and Certificates

Carpentry

Carpentry

Blinn carpentry students can earn their Associate of Applied Science Degree in Carpentry, NCCER Core Construction and Carpentry Level 1-4 certifications, and Blinn’s Occupational Skills Award and Level 1 and 2 certificates in carpentry.

Clinical Medical Administrative Assistant

Clinical Medical Administrative Assistant

CMAAs play a vital role in healthcare offices by scheduling appointments, creating and maintaining medical records, handling communication between patients and healthcare providers, and managing bookkeeping tasks.

Construction Management

Construction Management

At Blinn, students receive hands-on instruction in construction planning and design, scheduling, budgeting, personnel management, quality assurance, and safety. The program follows NCCER curriculum for fundamentals of crew leadership, project supervision, and project management.

Facility Maintenence

Facility Maintenence

Students in the program receive training in entry-level carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical skills for maintaining commercial and industrial buildings.

HVAC Technician

HVAC Technician

Get hands-on training for one of the most dependable and in-demand trades. CNBT 1010, HART 1041, and HART 1056 prepare you for the NCCER HVAC Level 1 exam and the EPA Section 608 certification. HVAC technicians are essential in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, and certified professionals enjoy steady work and competitive wages.

Welding Technology

Welding Technology

Complete the 60-hour Welding Technology AAS degree and you can earn the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) credential, a nationally recognized credential that qualifies students for jobs as structural welders, pipe welders, and maintenance welders.

Institutional Credentials Leading to Licensure or Certification (ICLCs)

A college or university awards an Institutional Credential Leading to Licensure or Certification (ICLC) after a student has completed a course or series of courses that represent the achievement of identifiable skill proficiency leading to licensure or certification. At Blinn, many of our ICLCs are just one, two, or three courses, quickly preparing you to pass the licensure or certification exam required for you to enter the workforce.

Drive your career forward by preparing for the Texas Department of Transportation’s commercial driver's license (CDL) exam. Through CVOP 1013 and CVOP 1040 (240 total contact hours), you’ll gain the skills needed to operate commercial vehicles safely and professionally. Blinn’s NURA 1013, designed for Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), covers a wide range of topics required for proper medication administration. After completing the course, students will be prepared to take the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) Medication Aide Licensure Exam.

Credit courses are part of degree or certificate programs and count towards graduation requirements. They are designed for students aiming to earn academic credentials or transfer to a four-year institution. Non-credit courses, offered through Blinn’s continuing education program, focus on professional development, skill enhancement, and personal enrichment. They do not count towards a degree but provide valuable training and certifications for career advancement.

Payment is required at the time of registration. Registration without payment does not hold a student’s spot in class.

To receive a full refund for credit courses, please visit our business office page

To receive a full refund for non-credit courses, the student must notify the Division of Applied Technology, Workforce, and Economic Development 48 business hours (or 2 business days) before the course start date. Other withdrawals will result in prorated refunds per the following:

  • For classes that meet less than four (4) times:
  • a 50% refund will be given with less than 48 business hours cancellation
  • no refund will be given after the first class

For classes that meet four (4) to eight (8) times:

  • an 80% refund will be given before the second class day
  • no refund will be given after the second class

For classes that meet more than eight (8) times:

  • an 80% refund will be given before the second class
  • a 50% refund will be given before the third class
  • no refund will be available after the third class

In the event a course is canceled by Blinn, a full refund will be given to the student. Students will be notified of course cancellation three (3) business days before the start date.

Workforce courses at Blinn College are available at various campus locations, including Brenham, Bryan, RELLIS, Schulenburg, and Sealy. Additionally, many programs offer online options to accommodate students’ schedules and learning preferences. Each location provides access to state-of-the-art facilities and experienced instructors, ensuring a comprehensive educational experience.
