Facility Maintenance
The Blinn College District Facility Maintenance Program offers a variety of awards designed to prepare students for entry-level facility maintenance positions, including college credit degree plans that place students on the pathway to higher-wage positions in the industry.
Degree and Certificate Plans
Students in the program receive training in entry-level carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical skills for maintaining commercial and industrial buildings. All Blinn facility maintenance courses follow the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum, a nationally recognized curriculum developed with the cooperation of more than 125 construction CEOs, trade association officials, and academic leaders.
At Blinn, students can earn Blinn’s Occupational Skills Award and Level 1 and 2 certificates and their Associate of Applied Science Degree in Facility Maintenance. Click below to see the degree plans:
Program FAQ
The Associate of Applied Science in Facility Maintenance, the Occupational Skills Award, and the Certificate Levels I and II in Facility Maintenance can be completed on the RELLIS campus.
You may be required to travel to the Brenham Campus to complete individual courses. Please check the course schedule for campus information regarding the course(s) you are planning to take.
Duties include general landscaping, fixing machinery, plumbing, heating, and wiring, inspecting buildings to confirm safety standards, and identifying, planning, and scheduling major repairs. Perform routine and preventative maintenance. Diagnose and repair broken assets.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, facility maintenance professionals earn a median salary of $40,850 per year and employment demand is expected to grow 8% between 2020 and 2030.
