At Blinn College, applying is always free
Students can apply to Blinn year-round with no application fee
October 20, 2025
While last week marked Free College Application Week across the State of Texas, the Blinn College District wants prospective students to know that free applications are nothing new here — applying to Blinn is always free.
According to MyTexasFuture.org, a resource created by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to help Texans plan their career and education, the average college application fee is approximately $50. At Blinn, students never have to worry about paying to apply.
“At Blinn College, we are committed to making higher education as affordable and accessible as possible,” said Kristi Urban, Registrar. “Eliminating the application fee is one of the many ways we remove barriers so students can focus on achieving their academic and career goals.”
Blinn offers open admissions, meaning that students are accepted once they submit the required application materials and documentation. The College also offers rolling admissions, so there is no application deadline for domestic students — they can apply up until the last day to register for a given semester. International students have their own admissions deadlines, which are posted on the College’s website.
Students can visit www.blinn.edu/admissions for step-by-step application instructions tailored to their unique situation — whether they are a new college student, transfer student, returning Blinn student, dual credit student, international student, or student-athlete.
Once admitted, students can register now for the winter minimester and the spring semester:
- Winter minimester: Beginning Monday, Dec. 15, the winter minimester allows students to earn college credit in just three weeks. All courses are offered online, so students can stay on track academically while enjoying the holiday season with their families.
- Spring 2025 semester: Classes begin Monday, Jan. 12, with a variety of course options to fit every schedule. Students can choose from convenient online classes or attend in-person at Blinn’s Brenham, Bryan, RELLIS, Schulenburg, and Sealy campuses. Evening courses also are available in Waller at Waller ISD locations.
Blinn offers exceptional value, allowing students to pursue their educational goals while saving on tuition and fees. With the highest academic transfer rate in the State of Texas, Blinn students can trust that their credits will transfer seamlessly to leading universities across the state.
Through innovative partnerships such as the Texas A&M-Blinn TEAM Program, Texas A&M Engineering at Blinn, the Texas A&M Engineering Academy at Blinn-Brenham, and the Aggie Student-Centered Express Nursing Degree (ASCEND), students have access to unique co-enrollment opportunities with Texas A&M University. As a member of the RELLIS Academic Alliance, Blinn also offers courses that transfer directly into bachelor’s degree programs offered by Texas A&M University System regional universities at Texas A&M-RELLIS.
Prospective students can apply today by visiting ApplyTexas.org, and once admitted, they can register for classes through myBLINN. Blinn recommends that students meet with an academic advisor to ensure they are on the right path toward their educational and career goals.
