Blinn Navigators

Blinn Navigators Logo

Navigators is a student-centered program in which volunteer faculty and staff support students in achieving their educational and personal goals. Navigators assure that students have a plan for success at Blinn College and beyond and connect students to the resources they need to succeed.

Navigators are specially trained full-time faculty and staff members who have volunteered to work with students, frequently one-on-one and sometimes in small groups. They are committed to the success of students assigned to them.

Navigators connect students to services they might need throughout the College, including advising, Financial Aid, tutoring, counseling, library resources, and similar support services. A Navigator can help you explore career and transfer options and provide study tips to help you improve your grades. Navigators are here to make sure Blinn students succeed.

Students can request a Navigator by sending an email request to navigators@blinn.edu. Some students who are struggling academically or have aged out of the foster care system are automatically assigned a Navigator.

Navigators are assigned based on the student’s home campus, and in some cases, even tailored to align with your specific major. If you are a Distance Learning student, you will be assigned to a faculty member who teaches online.

You will receive an email from navigators@blinn.edu telling you that you have been accepted into the program and you will receive the name and email contact information for your Navigator in the same email.

You can expect to meet face-to-face or via Zoom with your Navigator. You and your Navigator will develop a plan for talking with each other and any other action that needs to be taken such as help with selecting a major.

Once assigned, your Navigator is there to support you as long as you are enrolled at Blinn.

Yes, you can find information about Blinn College’s academic resources, including study skills strategies, in the Library’s Navigators LibGuide at https://libguides.blinn.edu/navigator student.

You will need to complete one of our semi-annual trainings. Navigators receive three service points per semester for their service. For more information or to volunteer as a Navigator, contact Joyce Langenegger.

For information on how to join the Navigators program, email navigators@blinn.edu.
