Reverse Transfer

Earn your associate degree after you transfer!

If you transfer to a university before graduating from Blinn, you can still earn your associate degree through reverse transfer. This process recognizes your accomplishments and awards you the important credential you deserve. Let the credits you earn toward your bachelor's degree do double the work for you!

APPLY NOW

Reverse transfer allows former students who who began their education at Blinn to transfer credits they earned at a four-year university toward their associate degree.

Studies have shown that students who complete their associate degree are more likely to complete a bachelor’s degree. Earning an associate degree has many other benefits, including:

  • Enhances your resume to make you a more attractive job candidate
  • Allows you to earn income to fund a bachelor's degree
  • Shows initiative to complete academic milestones should you have to unexpectedly stop pursuing your bachelor's degree

You are eligible for reverse transfer if you:

  • Have taken at least 15 credit hours at Blinn
  • Met your current degree requirements
  • Earned a minimum of 60 credit hours, including coursework at your university

You can complete the reverse transfer process in two ways:

  1. Apply through your four-year university.
    • Most Texas universities have an automated system in which they send Blinn your transcript if you give consent to be a part of the Reverse Transfer Initiative.
    • This consent is included in the ApplyTexas application when you apply to the four-year institution. However, we recommend you check with your university's Registrar's office to confirm that you would like to reverse transfer.
    • Blinn receives transcripts once a semester from the universities, and will evaluate them for transferable courses and degree completion.
    • Students who meet the degree requirements are emailed with instructions on how to receive the diploma for their associate degree.
  2. Apply on your own.
    • Request an official transcript from the university you are attending or have attended to be sent to Blinn.
    • Submit Blinn’s Reverse Transfer Application.
    • Once your transcript is received by Blinn, it will be evaluated for transferable courses and degree completion.
    • Students who meet the degree requirements are emailed with instructions on how to receive the diploma for their associate degree.
    • Students who are lacking requirements will be emailed with a brief description of needed requirements to complete the reverse transfer.

This Reverse Transfer Graduation Application is for students who have transferred to another college or university or no longer have access to their myBLINN account. Currently enrolled students should apply for graduation through their myBLINN accounts.
