Paralegal and Legal Studies Program Overview

Blinn’s Paralegal and Legal Studies Programs offer the convenience and academic excellence you expect from one of Texas’ finest community colleges. With our full slate of online and traditional classroom offerings, students can take daytime or evening classroom courses, a combination of online and traditional courses, or complete their degree online without ever stepping foot on campus!

Each Paralegal Program course has an outstanding instructor-to-student ratio, allowing students to explore their specific legal interests with the full support of their instructor. Whether the course is online or in the classroom, all Blinn Paralegal Program courses are taught by a practicing judge or attorney and meet Blinn’s strict guidelines for academic rigor.

Regardless of your class format, Blinn recommends that all students contact Program Coordinator Robert Stanberry prior to the semester so he can help develop an efficient course schedule and graduation plan. To reach him, email robert.stanberry@blinn.edu, call 979-209-7399 (day) or 979-255-3386 (evenings/weekends), or visit his office in Room E-231 on the Blinn-Bryan Campus (campus map).

  • Civil Litigation
  • Legal Research
  • Criminal Law
  • Contracts

  • Family Law

Paralegal and Legal Studies Careers

A Legal Assistant (Paralegal) performs legal research, assists in gathering facts, prepares documents, and does general administrative work at the direction and under the supervision of a lawyer. The skills of the Legal Assistant are such that the work performed would otherwise have to be accomplished by a licensed attorney.

Graduates of this program are prepared to assist attorneys in the delivery of legal services, and employment positions may be found in private law firms, courts, corporations and businesses, insurance companies, governmental offices, administrative offices, and banks-trust departments.

Legal assistants have become an integral part of a team striving for better and more efficient delivery of legal services. In addition to working in private law firms, legal assistant positions may be found in:

  • Courts
  • Corporations and Businesses
  • Insurance Companies
  • Federal, State, and local Governmental Offices
  • Federal, State, and local Administrative Agencies
  • Banks-trust departments

Experienced legal assistants may also establish their own businesses, working for attorneys on a contract basis.
