Perkins Financial Assistance
Perkins financial assistance is available to Blinn students seeking a CTE award.
Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have any questions regarding the application process, please contact Anthony Garcia at anthony.garcia@blinn.edu.
Who is eligible for Perkins financial assistance?
To be eligible for Perkins assistance, a student must meet the following requirements:
- Be pursuing a credit or non-credit CTE award, such as an AAS degree, Level I certificate, Level II certificate, ICLC, or Occupational Skills Award.
- Be enrolled in at least one course leading toward completion of their credit or non-credit CTE award.
- Maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average (GPA).
- Have an active Blinn student email address.
- Identify as one of the following special population categories:
- Disabled: Physical, academic, or mental disability documentation must be on file with the Blinn Office of Disability Services.
- Economically disadvantaged: Receives a Pell Grant, WIOA, AFDC, food stamps, Texas Public Education Grant, or can provide proof of income below the poverty level.
- English as a Second Language (ESL): Must be enrolled in ESL courses at Blinn.
- Homeless individuals
- Nontraditional field of study (refer to the list below)
- Out-of-workforce individuals
- Single parent or single pregnant woman
- Youth who are in, or have aged out of, the foster care system
- Youth with a parent who is a member of the armed forces and on active duty
