Accreditation

The Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Blinn College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education ( CAPTE), 3030 Potomac Ave., Suite 100, Alexandria, Virginia 22305-3085; telephone: 800-999-2782; email: accreditation@apta.org; website: https://www.capteonline.org. If needing to contact the program/institution directly, please call 979-691-2140 or email pta@blinn.edu.

The PTA Program begins in the fall semester of each year and enrolls a maximum of 25 students. Due to the competitive admission process, it is recommended that you attend an information session and begin the requirements for the admission process early to be sure your application is complete by the application deadline. However, completion of all admission requirements does not guarantee admission into the PTA Program.

The Blinn PTA Program boasts a high graduation rate and excellent pass rates on the national licensure examination in recent graduating cohorts.

Blinn College PTA Program Student Outcome Data based on CAPTE AAR submitted Annually

Graduation Rate: This rate is calculated according to the CAPTE formula required in the AAR (which is consistent with the formula used by the federal Integrated Post-secondary Education Data System).

1st Attempt Rate: This is the 1 st attempt pass rate as published by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy

Ultimate Pass Rate: This rate is the ultimate pass rate as published by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy.

Employment Rate: This rate is the % of graduates who were employed as PTAs within twelve months of passing the licensure examination

*Calculation is based on the CAPTE graduation rate formula.

Therefore, per CAPTE calculation guidelines, this student was excluded from the calculations for the Class of 2022 Ultimate Pass Rate, 2-year Average pass rate, and Employment Rate.

CAPTE Financial Fact Sheet

Financial Fact Sheet

This document outlines the financial information for the Class of 2024, which was a cohort of 15 students. Please note: The Student Debt Summary is an average of student loan debt taken for the PTA Program courses only. It does not include loan data for courses taken prior to admission to the PTA Program or prior degrees earned. Some students complete the PTA Program with no debt at all, and some students take out the maximum amount offered to them. The amount shown is an average for entire cohort of 15 students. Once accepted into the Blinn PTA program, students are responsible for:

  • a physical examination, including immunizations.
  • CPR certification.
  • transportation to Blinn and to all clinical agencies.

Due to the heavy time demands of coursework, students are discouraged from working full time while in the program. Part-time work is possible when grades can be maintained. Most students spend an average of 15-24 hours per week in scheduled program activities, including labs and lectures. As a "rule of thumb," students need to spend 30 or more hours per week to study and prepare for clinicals and lectures. The clinical schedule for PTA courses includes traveling to area physical therapy facilities.Students must have the ability to perform the cognitive essential functions of a Physical Therapist Assistant, and are required to meet minimal health requirements to participate in the clinical education component of the PTHA program.
