Radiologic Technology
Based at the RELLIS Campus, the Blinn College Radiologic Technology Program at Blinn College District prepares qualified individuals for careers as an entry-level radiologic technologist with a five-semester curriculum to award the degree of an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Radiologic Technology.
Students enrolled in the Radiologic Technology Program are provided with the academic and technical skills necessary to completely perform a wide variety of radiologic procedures. The curriculum incorporates general education, technical education with extensive knowledge of patient care and safety, anatomy and physiology, image production, equipment operation, radiation protection, radiographic procedures, radiographic laboratory, and clinical experience. Students integrate what they have discovered in classroom and laboratory instruction as they utilize their new skills in the actual, clinical component areas of hospitals and outpatient-clinics.
Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be prepared to complete the credentialing examination administered by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) to earn the professional credentials of a Registered Technologist (R.T.). Graduates are also eligible to apply for state licensure. A General Medical Radiologic Technologist license is issued through the Texas Medical Board (TMB) in Texas although each state has individual requirements.
The Blinn College Radiologic Technology Program has earned the maximum accreditation award of eight years from The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). Specialized accreditation awarded by the JRCERT offers institutions significant value by providing peer evaluation and by assuring the public of quality professional education in the radiologic sciences.
