About the GED

The GED measures the outcome of a high school education. There are four test sections:

  • Mathematical Reasoning - 120 minutes
  • Science - 95 minutes
  • Social Studies - 75 minutes
  • Reasoning through Language Arts (Reading and Writing) - 155 minutes

Idividuals Eligible to take the GED

Anyone 18 years or older who has not earned a high school diploma or officially withdrawn from high school may sit for the test. Individuals 16 and 17 years of age may also sit for the exam, but require more documentation as noted within registration.

Number of Tests Allotted Per Day

You can only register for one or two sections on a test day.

Brenham Test Site Information

Tests are administered one to two Fridays each month. A list of test dates are available when you create an account with GED Testing Services. The physical address is 802 Green St. Brenham, TX 77833.

Bryan Test Site Information

Essential Items for Test Day

  1. Current government-issued photo ID. A GED examinee is required to present current government-issued photo identification to be admitted on the day of the test.
  2. Proof of residency in the State of Texas (e.g., a utility bill with your name and address).

*If the following items are not provided, you will not be allowed to test. No exceptions will be made.

Online Testing Information

Ged.com offers the option of a proctored online test. There are specific technical requirements for the equipment used. You can check these requirements at ged.com. The online test also needs to be scheduled through ged.com

Full Exam: $145
One Section: $36.25
