Mental Health Counseling Appointments

We’re here to support you! Here’s what to know before your counseling appointment:

  • Plan Ahead: Appointments typically last about an hour. Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, we’ll ask you to reschedule so we can provide the best care possible.
  • Scheduling Appointments: Appointments must be scheduled in advance and are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Same-day appointments may not always be available due to other scheduled commitments, so be sure to plan ahead.
  • Referrals When Needed: If we believe your needs can be better met by another Blinn department or a local professional, your counselor will connect you with the right resources to help.

Keeping Your Appointment

  • It’s important to show up for your appointments and be on time.
  • If you need to cancel, please contact the Counseling Office at least 24 hours in advance. For emergencies or illness, let us know as soon as possible.

Short-Term Counseling and Planning

  • We offer short-term counseling services. During your first appointment, your counselor will discuss options and recommend the best support for you. This may include:

    • Brief, individual counseling sessions every 2-3 weeks.
    • Referrals for specialized, longer-term, or frequent therapy.
    • Recommendations for medication evaluation or other resources.
  • When you feel ready to wrap up counseling, you and your counselor will work together to create a plan for a smooth transition.

When Counseling Services May Not Be Available

While we strive to help every student, there are two situations when we may not be able to provide services:

  1. If a counselor, in consultation with leadership, determines that on-campus counseling isn’t the best fit for your needs or could disrupt the center’s functioning.
  2. If appointments are unavailable, especially toward the end of the semester when demand is high.

We’re committed to helping you find the support you need, whether that’s here on campus or through another resource. Your well-being is our priority!

Schedule an Appointment

If this is an emergency, call 911 or campus police at 979-277-7373. Please do not use this form for crisis or emergency situations.

Mental Health Counseling Appointments

In-Person

Appointments are preferred. Students who wish to make an appointment with a counselor may do so by calling their respective campus or completing the online intake form. We are unable to guarantee same-day or walk-in requests.

For life-threatening concerns or when the college is closed, see Emergency Services.

Telehealth

Telehealth appointments are available for currently enrolled students to utilize while they are physically located in the state of Texas. Telehealth appointments allow a student to consult a mental health provider from the comfort of their own home. These appointments are held via video (Microsoft Teams) and may be scheduled by completing the online intake form.

Appointment Availability

During high-traffic points in the semester, the Blinn College District Counseling Office switches to a single-session counseling format, primarily offering one-time, goal-focused sessions designed to address specific needs. Depending on the nature and outcome of these sessions, some limited options for follow-up may be available. Once final exams begin, our counselors are available for urgent, crisis-related services and will resume all services the first day of the following semester. Options for scheduling appointments will resume the week before classes begin.
